Translating the Original Text Into CEV
The drafting, reviewing, editing, revising, and refining the CEV text of the Bible extended over ten years. This process involved more than a hundred people in the various stages of the text creation and review process.
In 1995, American Bible Society published the first CEV translation. Two additional editions were published: one with Deuterocanonical books and one with metric measurements for the Commonwealth market.
Since then, it has ranked in the top ten most read translations of the Scriptures, and a great choice for young readers thanks to its commitment to writing at a 4th-grade reading level. It’s also referred to as a Bible for Today's Family.
