Spotlight on Pushpay Summit 2019
More than 1,300 people attended the Pushpay Summit in Dallas on May 22-23, 2019, where today’s biggest ministry challenges were addressed head-on by powerhouse pastors, world-class leaders, authors and industry pros. The conference inspired and encouraged leaders representing 370 churches across 40 states.
Below are some highlights from the Pushpay Summit.
Nurture In a Digital Era
The conference began with a keynote by Chris Heaslip, CEO and founder of Pushpay. Identifying the participation gap that many churches face, he launched the Nurture framework, a new strategy churches can use to strengthen their communities and create deeper connections among local churches. Speaking of the challenges many churches face today, Christ stated:
“We know that churches today want thriving and active organizations, but many struggle to close the gap between where they are and where their community members are.”
Leadership 101
Addressed head-on were the keys to overcoming dysfunctions of leadership. Patrick Lencioni, founder and president of The Table Group, discussed the power of trust, conflict (yes, conflict!), commitment, accountability and results.
Identifying the need to declare a daring destination for your organization was Cheryl Bachelder, former CEO of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen. She encouraged leaders who create clear roadmaps for the mission and to not overlook their talent.
“The decision to love the people you lead is powerful.”

Lead From Your Heart
Jenni Catron, CEO and founder of The 4Sight Group finds her leadership guidelines in Mark 12:30:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.”
This short verse encompasses everything needed to be effective leaders, including intentional relationships (heart), spiritual awareness (soul), wise counsel (mind), and vision (strength).
Clay Scroggins, lead pastor of North Point, and Bobby Gruenewald, pastor and innovation leader of Lifechurch.tv delivered the closing keynote to the Summit by inspiring connection.
In an age of “digital disruption,” the church has an exciting opportunity to connect individuals to each other and not just offer digital content. We have a responsibility to nurture people into true, Biblical community, even in an era where the model for a Sunday morning gathering has changed.
It can be done, and leaders can glean from one another in this area. Check out Pushpay’s Nurture framework and get the tools needed to adapt to these opportunities.
