Learning from the Bible about Worship
There is much the Bible has to say about worship. There are several websites that have curated a collection of Bible verses that teach about worship:
dailyverses.net/worship has 55 Bible Verses about Worship.
carm.org/topic-worship by CARM (Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry) has a list of Bible verses that describe worship’s postures, methods, and contrasts proper subjects of worship versus improper subjects.
whatchristianswanttoknow.com lists 20 Encouraging Bible Verses About Worship- the call to true worship, reasons, examples, and songs.
biblestudytools.com has 17 BIble passages about worship.
As it is written, we learn from the Bible that worship is much more than music, even as “praise & worship” music has become a popular genre of Christian music. Worship is to be done in spirit and in truth; and worship is a lifestyle (emphasis in bold added):
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24 (KJV)
So then, my friends, because of God’s great mercy to us I appeal to you: Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer. Romans 12:1 (GNT)

And 2 institutions connected to Christian higher education further the training of biblical worship leading for churches and corporate settings:
- The Institute for Biblical Worship is dedicated to training the next generation of worship pastors and fostering a community of scholars and worship practitioners for the glory of God. The Institute for Biblical Worship at Southern Seminary also hosts seminars and conferences on campus with guest lecturers and worship practitioners from all over the world.
- Calvin Institute of Christian Worship (CICW), located at Calvin College and Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is an interdisciplinary study and ministry center that promotes the scholarly study of the theology, history, and practice of Christian worship and the renewal of worship in worshiping communities across North America and beyond.
This Bible verse captures a glimpse of just how great our God is and worthy of worship:
“... so that you, together with all God’s people, may have the power to understand how broad and long, how high and deep, is Christ’s love. Yes, may you come to know his love—although it can never be fully known—and so be completely filled with the very nature of God.” Ephesians 3:18 (GNT)
